Archives and Collective
Memory:
Challenges and Issues in the Pluralised Archival
Role (3 days)
August 3rd to August 5th,
Melbourne, Australia
Australia's records continuum theory outlines
a four dimensional model for recordkeeping. We
have been repeatedly challenged on how well this
model enables appropriate attention to the cultural
and social role of archives, with the emergence
of powerful tools and operating paradigms for
agencies within jurisdictions, but arguably not
for archival organisations themselves. This seminar
explores just this dimension of recordkeeping
(the fourth dimension of the records continuum
model).
